Practical help across the data lifecycle
Engagements range from a short assessment to hands-on delivery alongside your team. The work is scoped to what you need, not to a fixed methodology.
Data governance
Operating models, data ownership, business glossaries and catalog rollouts that people actually use, including tool selection and proof-of-concept scoring.
Data quality
Rules, monitoring and remediation workflows that catch problems where they start, with measures the business can read and act on.
Privacy operations
Data inventories and repeatable handling of access and deletion requests, so privacy obligations are met from systems of record and not from spreadsheets.
Data platforms
Warehouse and lakehouse design, layered data models, transformation standards and promotion workflows that keep a platform maintainable as it grows.
Migration and modernization
Planning and delivery for moving data and integration workloads to new platforms: inventory, sequencing, replication, cutover and the period after it.
Integration support
Troubleshooting and tuning for enterprise data integration and replication environments, from slow jobs and connection failures to upgrade planning.
Practices
Deep experience on the platforms enterprises run
Our consultants bring decades of hands-on experience with the major enterprise data platforms, alongside the open-source tools that are replacing parts of them.
IBM
Decades of experience across IBM's data integration, replication and governance products, from DataStage, QualityStage, change data capture and Db2 through to Cloud Pak for Data, watsonx.data intelligence and watsonx.data integration: design, tuning, upgrades, support and migration.
SAP
Data migration, data quality and master data work for SAP programs, from profiling and cleansing legacy data to load, reconciliation and governance after go-live.
Data governance
Operating models, catalogs, glossaries and data quality programs, delivered on commercial platforms or on open-source ones such as OpenMetadata.
Datamite Consulting is independent. IBM, SAP and other product names are trademarks of their respective owners.
Open metadata
Specialists in open metadata platforms
Much of our governance and quality work is delivered on open-source metadata platforms such as OpenMetadata. We help teams stand the platform up, connect it to the systems that matter, and get people using it.
Deployment and configuration
Installation, sizing, single sign-on, roles and policies, and an upgrade path you can follow without us.
Ingestion and lineage
Connectors for databases, warehouses, pipelines and reporting tools, scheduled so the catalog stays current, with lineage that reaches the sources people ask about.
Glossary, classification and ownership
Business terms, sensitive-data tags, domains and named owners, set up so a new dataset arrives with the right context and the right steward.
Quality tests and extensions
Test suites, profiling and alerts inside the platform, custom connectors and automation through its API, and EDQ where deeper monitoring is needed.
Our recommendations stay vendor-neutral. If a different catalog suits you better, we will say so and help you run it.
Our tool
EDQ: data quality and observability, built in-house
EDQ is the data quality and observability tool we built ourselves. It integrates with OpenMetadata and other platforms, so rules, monitoring and health scores sit alongside the catalog your teams already use.
- Connect and profilePoint it at a database to profile schemas and tables and flag columns that hold sensitive data.
- Rules in plain SQLWrite a rule as a query for the rows that fail, or start from a template. Each rule carries a severity and a quality dimension.
- Scheduled monitoringScans run on a schedule and learn a baseline, so drift in volume, freshness or distribution is caught without a rule for it.
- Alerts that reach an ownerIssues are ranked by priority and routed to the steward of the dataset.
- ScorecardsHealth scores roll up by dataset and domain into views a business owner can read.
- Works with your catalogEDQ integrates with OpenMetadata and other metadata platforms, so a failing check arrives with its owner, its glossary terms and its lineage.

How an engagement runs
Clear scope, visible progress, and documentation you keep.
Understand
Start with the business question and the current state: what exists, who owns it, and where it hurts.
Plan
Agree a scoped plan with stated assumptions, effort and risks, so there is a shared picture before work begins.
Deliver
Work in short increments alongside your team, with regular check-ins and decisions recorded as they are made.
Hand over
Leave runbooks, standards and trained owners behind, so the result keeps working after the engagement ends.
